A different build

Today a helped a friend, Nick Huskinson, build a PCB board for his senior design project. The board implements a quad ADC using the Linear Tech LTC2170. Since Titan isn't ready yet, Nick designed this board for the Lattice ECP5 development card. Hopefully rev B will have an interface for Titan.

Few observations:

1) SMA's are missing?
2) Looks like input signals are AC coupled
3) Component designators colide with vias
4) After transformers signal becomes differential
5) Signals to ADC are length matched and surrounded by ground vias but not burried inside PCB - top layer stripline?
6) Top layer is covered by ground plane and connected to bottom layer with lots of vias - any specific reason to do that?

Why there are two transformers one after another?
